The Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden is a spectacular park that covers 400 acres. It was first opened in 1982. You can drive through the park in as little as 20 minutes, or you can camp overnight and spend the full day in the park! We spent a couple hours at the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden, and it felt like just the right amount of time for us.

There is one main hiking trail inside of Ho'omaluhia botanical gardens. You will find the trailhead right next to the visitor center. The loop trail is approximately 3km in length and is considered an easy hike. You will walk through trees and plants, alongside a lake, before coming back around to the visitor center.

The Ho'omaluhia botanical gardens are nestled just south of the Ko'olau mountains on the windward side of Oahu in Kane'ohe. Entrance to the gardens is free and they are open from 9-4 each day. The gardens comprise 6 different areas and a lake that are connected by a dead end road. Each area has a different theme and it's own parking lot.
